Modern Foreign Languages

‘ONE LANGUAGE SETS YOU IN A CORRIDOR FOR LIFE. TWO LANGUAGES OPEN EVERY DOOR ALONG THE WAY’

Modern Foreign Languages at Uckfield are taught in a very dynamic way through the use of modern technology that allows students to work at their own pace and help them with their learning outside the classroom. Languages are taught through songs, video clips including news and sports reports. Our aim is to enthuse our students about language learning and awaken their mind by allowing them to become curious about the culture of the country. As such we give them the opportunity to take part in theatre plays and we take them to our own recording studio to record their own songs.

We strongly believe that motivation is the key to learn a foreign language and that is the reason why the different year groups are learning a language through:

  1. Geography.
  2. Culture and society.
  3. Sports, fashion and celebrities.
  4. School systems and jobs opportunities.
  5. Travel and tourism.
  6. Healthy lifestyle.
  7. The environment.
  8. Institutions, history and  political background.
  9. Literature and films.

Our students also have the opportunity to attend different clubs where they can learn languages such as Chinese and Arabic.
