Uckfield College students celebrate GCSE and vocational exam success!

There was plenty of happiness as students at Uckfield College opened their results this morning. The long wait was over and many students were rewarded with fantastic grades after their immense hard work. Once again, students at Uckfield College responded to the significant challenge of GCSE exams and collectively achieved another strong set of results, with some incredible individual successes.

A significant number of students made exceptional progress from their starting points. We know that success comes in many different forms and that some students also overcame significant personal or physical challenges to achieve their results. We are immensely proud of all their achievements. Overall, 25% of all grades were 7-9 (A*-A); 60% of all grades were 5-6 (A*-B); 76% of all grades were 4 or higher (A*-C). A special mention also has to be made to the 80 grade 9s achieved by Uckfield College students in a range of subjects; these grades are extremely difficult to achieve and are only awarded to the very highest performing students nationally.

Sara Marshallsay, Principal, said, “Many congratulations to all of our students! It was such a pleasure to see so many of them delighted with their achievements this morning. They are a fantastic year group, who have developed great personal skills and positive attributes in addition to their academic achievements. Thank you too to all the Uckfield College staff, who have worked with and taught this year group throughout the years they have been with us, and, of course, to all of the students’ parents and carers for their support. I have no doubt that these young people will go on to achieve fantastic things in the future. I look forward to many of them continuing at Uckfield College in the Sixth Form, and wish those who are moving on all the very best for the next chapter in their lives.”

Beth Brown, Director of Year 11 and Assistant Headteacher from September said, “The Year 11 team and I couldn't be prouder of our students. They have worked diligently, and it's incredibly rewarding to see their hard work pay off as they enrol in their chosen Sixth Form courses. I wish them all the best as they take this next step in their journey.”
