Catering at Uckfield College
Healthy nutrition is vital to a young person’s physical and mental well being, and we are committed to providing excellent, good value food for our students and staff.
The company Pabulum provides the catering service at Uckfield College; Tom Atkin Is the Executive Chef Manager and manages the catering which is served in the main Refectory, catering pods and the 6th Form cafe.The Refectory seating area is split into year groups where students can enjoy eating and interacting with their friends. Year 7 have their own dedicated service point, with easy access to the Year 7 garden area.
Main meals are designed to be purchased and eaten in the refectory and as such are served on a plate with the choice of 2 hot options each day. ‘Grab and go’ food, both hot and cold, is available from all areas. A selection of sandwiches, tray bakes, drinks and dessert pots are also available. The main hot meal price is £2.74; this offers students a hot meal, with vegetables and free fruit.
A cashless system operates and parents/carers can top up their child's accounts via ParentPay. The daily spend limit is set at £7.00, this can be adjusted to a higher or lower amount by sending an email to finance.info@uckfield.college
Queues vary at each venue and are managed for health and safety reasons by staff. Some days are more popular than others and queues may be longer at times, but with a small amount of patience all students are able to access the serveries with plenty of time to eat with friends.
Water bottle filler stations are located across the site for students to refill their water bottles.
Of course, students are also welcome to bring in packed lunches, and can eat those with their friends in the Refectory, or outside in their Year group gardens.
